Forearm Muscle Anatomy. There are two layers contained in this compartment including a superficial compartment. The superficial group originating at the funny bone consists of the flexor carpi ulnaris the palmaris longus the flexor carpi radialis and the pronator teres.
The forearm muscles consist of flexors which lie in the anterior compartment of the forearm and the extensors which lie in the posterior compartment. The flexor carpi ulnaris is the most medial muscle in the superficial layer of the forearm. These muscles apart from the supinator which has one head that attaches to the lateral epicondyle these muscles all originate on the posterior surfaces distally on the ulna and radius and interosseous membrane.

Supination is the ability to turn the palm of the hand upward. These muscles allow us to perform tasks that require controlled twisting of. Brachioradialis is one of the muscles that comprise the posterior compartment of the forearm. The forearm is the region of the upper limb between the elbow and the wrist.
