Eye Intraocular Muscle. The actions of the muscles vary depending on the position of the eye when they become innervated. There are six extraocular muscles in each eye.

Intraocular muscles Ciliary muscles -helps in accommodation Sphincter pupillae -constricts pupil Dilater pupillae -Dilates pupil IOM changes shape of lens and size of pupil. The intrinsic eye muscles include the ciliary muscle iris sphincter and radial pupil dilator muscles. These muscles originate in the eye socket orbit and work to move the eye up down side to side and rotate the eye.

There is another reason one may need spectacles which IS to do with the intraocular accommodative muscles of the eye at least in part.

There are four recti muscles. This type of ophthalmol may affect any of the following six extraocular muscles. These muscles originate in the eye socket orbit and work to move the eye up down side to side and rotate the eye. The superior rectus inferior rectus lateral rectus medial rectus superior oblique and inferior oblique.
