Cervical one is also called the atlas as it supports the weight of your skull. The first cervical vertebrae C1 is known as the atlas. The cervical spine is the superior portion of the vertebral column extending between the cranium and the thoracic vertebrae.
The second cervical vertebrae C2 is known as the axis.
The superior part arises from the anterior tubercles of transverse processes of vertebrae C3-C5 and inserts into the anterior tubercle of vertebra C1.
